Development[]

Along with the St.Type-25 medium tank and the St.Type-120 light tank, the Type-35 compliments a new generation of armoured combat vehicles. It is meant to replace the outdated St.Type-34 and improve on some of its shortcomings. While the armour isn't as thick, it has a better top speed and a bigger turret, which allows for the installation of a more powerful 120mm cannon compared to the short 100mm as carried by the Type-34. In addition, it has a smaller profile which increases stability and survivability, but decreases ammo capacity. At this time it serves alongside the Type-34 in Stalker Inc.'s private military force, but it will replace the outdated 77 tonne tank entirely eventually.

Characteristics[]

Advantages[]

  • Thick, heavily sloped frontal armour.
  • Improved turret, capable of mounting a 120mm stabilised cannon.

Disadvantages[]

  • Side and rear armour less thick compared to its predecessor.
  • Decreased ammo capacity.

Variants[]

St.Type-35b[]

After several months of use, the St.Type-35 models-- as well as the St.Type-25a and St.Type120a series -- were recalled for performance enhancements. While the upgrades to the latter two were merely performance wise; the Type-35 received a far more drastic overhaul. In addition to the compartmentalisation and performance enhancements, the heavy tank received a completely new and modernised turret. It carries the same 120mm cannon as the Type-35a, but boosts better stability and traverse rate. It also received a secondary, remote controlled 20mm autocannon to counter infantry and soft targets. The lower glacis received additional spaced armour plating, bringing the total thickness up to 170mm RHA.
